Full-Time Video Design Specialist
Job Description
As a Video Design Specialist, you will work within the Customer Service and Communications Business Unit to provide creative video consulting, design, filming, editing, and production services for the Calgary Fire Department (CFD). You will consult with clients, contribute to script development, create concepts and storyboards, and utilize your strong technical abilities to operate video and audio recording devices. Primary duties include:
- Work with the communications team and clients to produce, shoot, and edit video projects that meet the business needs of the Calgary Fire Department.
- Consult on the technical aspects of video production and work with clients to find creative video solutions to communications challenges.
- Provide cost breakdown and timelines for video filming and editing on a project-by-project basis.
- Set up multi-camera productions for local record, broadcast or live stream.
- Work with the City’s preferred vendor to provide audio-visual systems for events.
- Maintain and archive project files.
Qualifications
- A completed 2 year diploma in Broadcasting, Film Studies or a related field with at least 3 years of experience in a visual communications environment; OR
- A degree in Broadcasting, Film Studies, or a related field with at least 1 year of experience as noted above.
- Experience with video production (lighting, camera operation, audio, and non-linear editing), client relations, finance, and vendor relations are required.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency using Adobe Premiere and Creative Suite applications.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits, and no current suspensions or charges pending.
- Experience in photography and social media video content creation is a strong asset.
- You have demonstrated communication, visual and creative skills.
- Success in this position requires strong organizational skills and ability to provide quality customer service while still meeting timelines and budgets.
- Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator’s permit.
Working Conditions: Office environment with travel to various shooting locations. The position requires participation in frequent tech set ups and may require lifting up to 60 lbs.
